The best laid plans…

Today was a Tommy day. It was also bright sunshine and a beautiful autumnal day. I had this clear shot in my head of Tommy wrapped in a big woolly jumper with his new wellies playing in the leaves. Cannon Hall The wellies that I bought for Tommy were three sizes too big and fell off when I carried him across to the leaves The … Continue reading The best laid plans…

Finding your place

The last few weeks have seen a lot of reflective thought. Mum’s dementia and death have made us all stop and re evaluate what is important. What is important? What is It that defines us and makes us what we are? The values we hold now are rooted in our childhood and the values our children and grandchildren will have are rooted within us. My … Continue reading Finding your place

Mixed emotions

It’s a strange time at the minute and one where we are coping with a range of emotions. We interred mum’s ashes this morning and said our goodbyes once again. It felt very odd, a small wooden casket, two lots of workmen a council officer and  a funeral director. Mum’s final resting place is elegant marble and bedecked with beautiful flowers – it gives us … Continue reading Mixed emotions

13th July

Extremes of emotion have been woven through the past 7 weeks! As ever, I escape by taking photographs. These ‘arty’ type shots are from the beautiful bouquet which was sent by the wonderful people at Crown House publishers. The flowers were gorgeous but at the time they were at their best – I was not, so didn’t manage any shots. However, I love the texture … Continue reading 13th July

1st July 2015

Mum died on 26th June and we have spent this week making the seemingly hundreds of arrangements. I will blog properly when I get my head together but wrote this today as i’m struggling. Friends keep asking me how I am but the honest answer is I don’t know. Mum died last week and whilst I’m desperately trying to mourn her I’m having trouble finding … Continue reading 1st July 2015

8th – 16th June

I haven’t blogged or uploaded any images for a few days even though I have hundreds that need editing! I want to blog about the last few days but can’t yet. We have been through every emotion you can imagine from fear to frustration from tears to gratitude. Mum is still with us but is on ‘End of Life care plan’. She is very ill … Continue reading 8th – 16th June

3rd – 7th June

Mum continues to be very up and down so this is still a struggle. In an attempt to look at what I have and be grateful for the  positives in my life I have started the #100happydays challenge. It may seem wrong to do this now when mum is still in hospital but I’m struggling and this is my attempt to ‘cling on with my … Continue reading 3rd – 7th June
