Bird watching

I love the birds in my garden but also love a walk around our local RSPB site. For the first time in ages – it wasn’t raining and it was a cold sunny day. Spent a lovely hour in the garden hide at Old Moor. There were a group of long tailed tits who are lovely but don’t stay still for very long. The usual … Continue reading Bird watching

Nature continues to be my safety net. Had a very traumatic morning at the hospital and mum is not good at all. Went for a quick walk this afternoon to check on the progress of our cygnets x  Continue reading 1st 2nd June

Things are still difficult with mum so I really appreciate the half an hour or so I have in the morning with my coffee, camera and garden birds. Sometimes it’s the little things that keep you going. Continue reading 31st May 2015

23rd – 30th May

I can’t write about this week yet as it’s too hard! Mum was rushed into hospital and was seriously ill. She is physically recovering but her dementia is worse than ever. These are a few random images from this week – a lovely day with Tommy before we had to rush to hospital and a few images of birds using my new lens! Will update … Continue reading 23rd – 30th May

7th April RSPB Old Moor

We are fortunate to live very near an RSPB site and as members can pop along for an hour or so whenever we want. I love the garden hide, lots of branches, rocks and logs for birds to land on. I do sometimes have a problem with the very serious photographers who wish to give advice to all and sundry. I just like to be … Continue reading 7th April RSPB Old Moor

3rd April 2015 Blackbirds nesting

We have a pair of blackbirds building a nest in the clematis in the corner of our garden. It is amazing to watch them. The male keeps guard and the female flies in and out with resources! These aren’t the best of images – poor light and I need to buy a decent zoom lens but I’ve enjoyed watching them so much  Continue reading 3rd April 2015 Blackbirds nesting

26th March 2015

Having spent most of this week editing images from Kakuma – I needed some fresh air yesterday and so went for a walk. We live very close to an RSPB site (Old Moor) so we wandered around for a while. The tree sparrows were lovely. Continue reading 26th March 2015

8th March 2015 67/365

The calming force of nature! Sometimes if I’m stressed or have things on my mind I will just sit with a coffee and watch the birds in the garden. We’ve been feeding them for several years now and some are quite tame. I love the colours and textures from the amazing multicoloured pheasants to the stunning brown and cream of the thrushes I am saving … Continue reading 8th March 2015 67/365
