Having worked with Polymer Clay, especially using the Mokume Gane technique, I’m always on the look out for items I can use to make patterns in my clay. I discovered a while ago that wooden printing blocks work really well. You have to be prepared to have an abstract feel to your work but that’s part of the appeal of this technique, you never actually know what you are going to get.
These two wooden printing blocks below are from The Indian Block Printing company. The one on the left is my favourite but ive had it a few years now and used its lots of times so its covered with corn starch and is really battered through heavy use but still works!

I’d been looking for more wooden blocks but couldn’t decide which to buy when Patricia – one of the ladies on the closed Facebook Group for Mokume Gane, shared a link to a set of border stamps – as they were relatively inexpensive I ordered a set to try.

There are videos of the shaving process of the Wooden block stamps above on my Instagram account – @janehmokumegane
